In the belief of the Syrian Center for Legal Studies and Research, in transferring the successful Syrian experience in terms of using the universal jurisdiction to prosecute war criminals and criminals against humanity, to experts from countries facing the crime that the Syrians faced. In addition, within our vision that the criminals are united in our region, we must, as defenders of human rights and demanders for justice, coordinate our movement and unite our efforts.
We completed a training workshop entitled (Universal Jurisdiction and Files Preparation) in Berlin for five days from 24 to 28 February 2004,
Participate in the workshop professional lawyers from the Arab countries: Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, and Iraq.
A group of legal experts and legal organizations specialized in working within European laws and universal jurisdiction participated as trainers, as well as public prosecutors and specialized police in Europe.
During the workshop, participants learned about how to Description and deal with crimes, access witnesses, and document their testimony. They also learned about how to collect evidence, access open sources, and digital protection. Through the workshop, they were able to build a network of relationships with human rights organizations, public prosecutors, and the police specialized in international crimes, and ways and means of communicating with them.
We consider this experience to be the first of its kind to transfer the Syrian experience to the Arab region. It sends a strong message to all dictators who commit serious violations against human rights and to war criminals and criminals against humanity that the time of impunity has ended and you are no longer safe from facing justice, and there is a qualified legal team waiting for you wherever you turn.
There is no peace and no stability without justice
There is no safe place for criminals
